Be a Volunteer!
Being a volunteer at the museum can be a fun and rewarding experience! Volunteers are vital to keep the organization an enjoyable destination for the community.
Some of the volunteer opportunities include:
*Open Houses - Helping out at open houses by hosting visitors or directing them to different parts of the museum.
*Ice Cream Social - Helping to plan the Ice Cream Social in August and/or volunteering to help serve the ice cream and treats on the day of the event.
*A Night at the Museum - Dressing up like characters from Ankeny's history for an entertaining evening.
*Facilities Maintenance/Landscaping - Assisting with yardwork/gardens or housekeeping/maintaining the house and barn.
*Planning Programs - Offering ideas for what programs or events to do throughout the year to attract visitors to the museum.
*Tours - Providing tours that visitors have scheduled outside of our regular open house times.
*Collections/Displays - Working with the committee to put together different collections and/or displays and exhibits.
*Pumpkins (August, September & October) - Helping harvest pumpkins from the farm field and display them outside the museum for our annual pumpkin fundraiser.
*Christmas Cookie Sale (December) - Providing baked cookies, selling tickets, or handing out cookies on the day of our annual Christmas cookie fundraiser.
